Meldrum Messages - Friday 23rd January 2026

We have had a super week here at Meldrum with lots going on. All of the classes have been very busy preparing their Scots poems and classes have chosen their winners.  I am very much looking forward to hearing all of these poems next week and I think it’s going to be a hard job to choose an overall winner!

P5 enjoyed taking part in a handball festival at DCHS on Thursday and represented our school very well.  P4 performed their assembly for parents/carers this morning and it was a resounding success.  The children and Mrs Scobie worked very hard to pull this together and their hard work paid off today.  Well done P4!

A request that lollipops are not sent into school as snack or part of a lunch.  If a child is bumped while they have a lollipop in their mouth, there could be a choking risk so we would ask that these types of treats are kept for home.  Thank you for your co-operation with this.

Achievement Assembly – we are going to introduce a termly achievement assembly for the children to celebrate wider achievement.  You will be sent a link to a Microsoft form where you can detail any achievements that your child has recently at clubs or activities they take part in.  In line with our Scottish Curriculum for Excellence which aims to develop children to be Responsible Citizens, Effective Contributors, Confident Individuals and Successful Learners, we are also keen to have children who show these traits in their local community recognised too.  As well as submitting information about their achievement, you can also send a photograph to our school email (wlmeldrum-ps@westlothian.org.uk) and we will use these at our achievement assembly (this is for children only and will be held during normal assembly time)  Pictures should be of your child only, any group photographs will not be used.
