Meldrum Messages - Friday 6th March 2026

This week, it has felt like we might be turning a corner and heading into more spring-like weather however the snow this morning sent us right back to the winter and the cold!  Hopefully it was just a blip and we see some more dry and nice weather over the coming weeks!  Today, everyone was buzzing about our World Book Day adjective dress up!  We had lots of cosy pupils, sporty pupils and some more unusual adjectives such as spicy and musical!  Thank you to all of our parents/carers for supporting this event which marked World Book Day and also led to lots of conversations about adjectives across the school.  We also had the chance to split into our 4 house groups and take part in some World Book Day themed activities which everyone really enjoyed.  A thanks to the staff team who embraced the theme of the dress up and prepared fun activities to help promote a love of reading.

A reminder to go onto Parents Portal and book a parents evening appointment if you haven’t already done so, there are some appointment slots left for anyone still to book.  Next week is our next Ragbag collection date, you will have been emailed by Mrs Stephenson about dates to send in clothing items.

Food allergies – a plea to please ensure that your child does not bring any items which contain nuts or are made with nut products.  West Lothian Council aims for all establishments to be “nut free zones” and we appreciate your support with this.  I know that previously strawberries were not able to be part of snacks/packed lunches due to an allergy of a member of the school community however this is no longer the case.

Next week

Tuesday – DCHS drama teaching student in the school

Wednesday – Soup Kitchen volunteers to St Andrews Church

Thursday – P6 to DCHS for Badminton festival; P6 and P7 football after school club
