Meldrum Messages - Friday 24th April 2026

This week, we have enjoyed having the pitch open over breaks and lunchtimes as the weather has been better and the ground has dried up.  Long may that continue!  A huge congratulations to the pupils who represented us at DCHS netball last night.  We are delighted to share that they emerged as winners of the competition and demonstrated fantastic sporting skills and teamwork.  Well done to everyone who has taken part across the school year in the matches, everyone has contributed to our overall success.  Our P2 pupils have started to practise for their class assembly which takes place on Friday 1st May and rehearsals are progressing well!

Our Parent Council met on Wednesday evening and plans are advancing for the upcoming Spring Fayre on Saturday 30th May (save the date!)  Further details and requests for donations will be shared with you in due course.

P7 enjoyed a trip to the Risk Factory in Edinburgh on Thursday where everyone participated in a range of scenarios designed to develop understanding and awareness of safety.  The children were full of chat about some of the activities they had taken part in and really enjoyed the experience!

A focus group of pupils from across P5, P6 and P7 took part in an online session yesterday to share their views on West Lothian Council’s current consultation around the use of mobile phones in schools.  The children who took part were mature and spoke well about their views on this topic and these were shared with the staff running the session.  You will have been sent a survey to complete via email so please take some time to share your own views on this.

Next week sees our P7 residential to Dalguise.  Mrs Lang, Mrs Brown and Miss Jones are going with the children which means some changes to who is working with P1 – P6 next week.  Details are below.  Please note that due to class cover required, PE days might be different next week but please don’t worry too much as children will be able to participate regardless.
