Meldrum Messages - Friday 15th May 2026

It has been nice to have had a full week in school and a normal pattern of days after last week!  We’ve had a lot going on this week too!  As you know, each class shares a weekly post about their learning so be sure to have a read about what your child/children have been up to!

We were delighted to welcome our upcoming P1 pupils to the school on Wednesday for their first transition visit.  The children spent time in the P1 class and heard the story of “The Gruffalo” which everyone enjoyed.  We are looking forward to having the children back in next Thursday afternoon.

Our current P7 had a visit from one of the Science teachers at DCHS on Thursday morning where they took part in some practical science activities as part of their transition.  Everyone was really enthusiastic and enjoyed the tasks.  This morning, a team of 9 P7 pupils went to a football festival event held at Inveralmond High School.  The team took part in 5 games, securing a couple of wins which was fantastic.  The festival was non-competitive and everyone who took part was awarded a medal.  The team tried their best, worked well as a team and enjoyed the experience.  Well done everyone!

Date for your diary:  Sports Day is planned for the morning of Thursday 4th June. The event will take the form of potted sports, with children competing in their houses.  As this is an outdoor event, it will be weather dependent. It may not be possible to provide advance notice of cancellation. On the morning of the event, a risk assessment of the pitch will be carried out to ensure it is safe to proceed.  If the event needs to be cancelled, a new date will be shared as soon as possible.   Further information, including specific timings, will be communicated closer to the day.

Next week

Monday – Victoria Day holiday – school closed

Tuesday – P7 group to DCHS transition activity; Donations for Spring Fayre can be sent in from today

Wednesday – P6 trip to The Kelpies

Thursday – New P1 visit to class at 2pm
