Meldrum Messages - Friday 5th June 2026

How on earth are we in the month of June already?  I’m not sure where the first half of the year has gone!  This week, the weather was not kind to us and we had to postpone our Sports Day.  A new date of 18th June was shared with you, keep everything crossed we will be in a better position to go ahead on that date.  Our P4 pupils had a soggy visit to 5 Sisters Zoo on Wednesday.  The rain didn’t dampen their enthusiasm for the visit and everyone enjoyed seeing a range of animals and the workshop that they took part in about Habitats and Adaptations.

Mrs Brown has decided to reduce her working hours and from August, will be working for 3 days per week.  Following recruitment processes, I am pleased to tell you that Miss Jones has been successful in securing part time Principal Teacher (Acting) and is now part of our school leadership team.  I am sure that you will join me in offering both ladies your good wishes for the coming school year.

A very big thank you to the Parent Council members and volunteers who organised and ran our Spring Fayre last Saturday.  The event raised over £650 which will be used to support school initiatives.  The next fundraising activity that our Parent Council are running is the chance for one pupil from each class to win a signed class ball.  Information about how to enter was shared with you earlier this week.

Applications for the school clothing grant and free school meals and milk are now open.  You should already have been sent details about this however you can find the link here below.  We would encourage parents of younger children who are eligible for free meals to apply even though meals are free to all.
