Meldrum Messages - Friday 19th June 2026

We’ve had a really busy week here at Meldrum PS with a lot going on!  There are a number of highlights to share – our Sports Day was able to go ahead yesterday and everyone had lots of fun taking part in the different activities that were set up.  We haven’t been able to share winning teams with the children yet so we’ll need to fit this into next week!  Our P4 pupils had a great visit to DCHS yesterday to hear performances from a range of different orchestras and bands, showcasing the different instruments that are taught by West Lothian Council’s Instrumental Music Service.   We also had pupils take part in Deans Gala Day schools relay races and football tournament on Wednesday evening.  Our girls relay team came 2nd in the girls schools race, our boys football team came 2nd in the schools tournament and our boys relay team won their race and were awarded the Willie Dunn Memorial Shield which is on display in our reception before it is collected by Deans Gala Day committee to be engraved with our school name as 2026 winners!  A huge thank you to the pupils and parents who gave up their time to bring the children along and stayed to cheer them on!

Today, our P7 pupils put on a fantastic Leavers assembly for their families and school friends.  They shared important messages but resilience and how they have shown this over the year as well as the ways in which they will continue to persevere as they move on to high school.  A huge well done to the class and to Mrs Lang for all of their hard work to put this together and perform it for everyone.  Well done P7!

End of year reports are currently being printed and we hope to send these home early next week.  We will send an email to let you know when to look out for these in school bags!  If your child is absent, their report will be kept in the school and can be collected on return in August.

A final reminder that all pupils are invited to walk with the school in Deans Gala Day tomorrow.  Any pupil attending must be accompanied by an adult who stays with them and is responsible for them during the procession.  Hopefully the weather is kind and everyone is able to have a great day!  We have a number of pupils who are part of the pageant, including this year’s Queen (Millie P7) and King (James P6) and hope that they enjoy being part of this important local event!

Next Week

Monday – Final transition visits to new classrooms

Thursday – Play all Day!  Pupils are invited to have a non uniform day (no club football colours, pyjamas or onesies please) and take part in play activities for the day.  Please note that children will be going outside at breaks and lunchtimes as well as potentially being outside at other points in the day and should be dressed for the weather!  At the moment, the forecast is good so please ensure that suncream is applied before your child comes to school.

Thursday – P7 Leavers Event – information from Parent Council has already been shared with P7 parents regarding this event.
