Meldrum Messages - Friday 11th September 2026

What a quick week it has been!  There’s been lots going on in our classes, remember to have a look at your child’s class post to hear more about their learning across the week! Thank you to the P1 parents/carers who joined us for our Literacy learning session on Monday, it was well attended and hopefully everyone found it useful.  Some of our P7 pupils took part in the West Lothian Cross Country event held at Dechmont Law on Thursday, well done to everyone who took part.  Today we were joined in school by staff from NHS Lothian who administered flu vaccinations.  Children should have a leaflet and vaccination slip in their school bag today.

False Nails and School Safety – To help keep all pupils safe, we ask that children do not wear long false nails, acrylic nails, or nail extensions to school. These can cause accidental injuries during play and learning activities, may break and cause harm, and can make participation in some school activities more difficult. Thank you for your support in maintaining a safe environment for all pupils.

Morning arrangements – please see email sent yesterday about arrangements for children during periods of inclement weather.

Big Breakfasts – thank you to everyone who has completed our feedback form.  This will close on Monday of next week so if you would like to provide feedback, please complete by then. Big Breakfast Feedback – August and September 2026 – Fill out form

Outdoor learning – each class spends time learning outdoors on a weekly basis however we are delighted to say that we are going to be resuming our visits to the local forest after the September break.  Leaving the school premises requires additional adult supervision so we are pleased that one of our volunteers, Mrs Curran, has agreed to support forest visits on a Tuesday afternoon.  Each class will get the chance to go on a rolling programme, look out for information about when your child’s class is going, this will be shared within their class blog and within the Meldrum Messages post on the Friday before it takes place.  For visiting the forest, please ensure that children have appropriate footwear (sturdy shoes or wellies) and have a suitable jacket.  If you require any support to provide this, please contact Mrs Stephenson or I directly and we will be able to assist.
